Speak English well if you’re shy

The shy can speak English well.  But does shyness hold you back? Do you have a lot to offer but are afraid to share?

Humans’ most amazing gift is the ability to talk. Scientists still don’t know how we do it.

Unfortunately, shyness stops many people from being successful.

Shyness creates a river of emotions about speaking English. It prevents people from from sharing their ideas and feelings with others. The personal struggle lies beneath the surface so others don’t know what the problem is.

The shy person’s fear to speak English well stops them from sharing their wonderful gifts with others. I call these people hidden wonders.

I’ve been teaching freshmen university students at Jianghan University in Wuhan, China for the past six years.  Many struggle with shyness.  The past week I had a student break down in tears when I simply asked her name.

Happily, from time to time a shy student breaks out of their shell and begins to speak English well.  The knowledge unleashed often amazes me, whether art, science, or modern media.  But the look of joy and relief on their faces far outshines the words.  They become whole.

How to speak English well

In my book, Seeking Balance:  The ultimate guide to English-speaking excellence for the shy, foreign, or frustrated, I discuss the importance of balancing emotions using yinyang, an ancient Chinese philosophy.

“My six years teaching at Jianghan University helped me to understand the importance the Chinese place on balance and acceptance. Chinese philosophy embraces the belief that life’s opposite emotions don’t compete but complement.

The philosophy, known as yinyang, involves the idea that life elements compete with AND complement each other.

Flip a coin.  Heads or tails may win.  But regardless of the victor, it is still one coin.  Emotions, such as weak and strong, kind and greedy, or talkative and quiet, exist the same way. Flip your emotions but they are still one coin.”

You will speak English well when you achieve balance.

Are you shy?  Does it prevent you from speaking English well? Do you have hidden talents that need to come out but can’t because of emotions?

My heart goes out to you if you are shy because I was shy too.  I wrote this book because I want to share that shyness can be overcome by seeking balance.

Human expression is an incredible power. Human beings possess great strength by speaking English clearly and concisely to other human beings.

Do these things to improve

  • Take full advantage spoken English’s amazing power
  • Do verbal exercises that improve your ability to speak English well
  • Listen and learn from powerful English speakers who lead, educate, or entertain through simple but well-spoken words
  • Take the risk of letting the world know how much you can contribute

Yes, overcoming challenges create heroes. If speaking English tests your spirit on a daily basis do you have the courage to conquer your fear? Do you have what it takes to be a hero?  Can you become a champion by realizing how much of life you miss and, more importantly, how much life misses you?

Yes, the journey involves risk. Anytime you speak English the possibility of failure exists. But also the chance of enlightenment, joy, and knowledge comes to light.

Seeking emotional balance requires accepting shyness.

So if you are a hidden wonder sitting on the fence then start to speak English well by seeking balance today.  Shyness can be defeated.
