Who we are
Our English-speaking philosophy
A philosophical backbone gives a person, book, or company a system of values and reality to follow in a particular area of study. Here is our English-speaking philosophy.
The American Speech Company, and my book, Seeking Balance: The ultimate guide to English-speaking excellence for the shy, foreign, and frustrated, follows a theory regarding the act of speaking English.
The book lays out the basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of what I believe to be the core elements of communicating well in English.
The underpinnings of our English-speaking philosophy involve the ideas of acceptance, balance, and change in speaking English. I call this the ABC philosophy.
Let’s break it down for you.
The ABC philosophy
- Acceptance: Effective communicators accept who they are and where they exist at the present moment. They embrace now.
- Balance: Effective communicators balance thoughts, ideas, time, and emotions in any situation.
- Change: Mindful communicators carefully listen, seeking positive change when and where necessary. Positive communication changes lead to improved balance in the mind, body, and spirit.
Our ABC philosophy provides an easy-to-follow approach to acceptance, balance, and change, the qualities that improve an individual’s English-speaking ability. We promise to uphold this philosophy in all of our services.
